Abstract: Low-cycle fatigue-tests with full scale structural specimens have been carried out in the Ship Structures Laboratory at Delft on a 600-ton tension-compression machine. The specimens represented the interconnection of longitudinal frames at transverse bulkheads. Most were of the interrupted type and were constructed in mild steel. A small number of specimens made of a higher-strength steel was also available. Axial cyclic loading was applied (Pmin/Pmax=−(1/(2). The results are given for 0, 100 and 500 mm2 crack-area as a function of nominal, local and peak-stresses.
