The journal International Shipbuilding Progress (ISP) was founded in 1954. Each year two issues appear (in March and September). Publications submitted to ISP should describe scientific work of high international standards, advancing subjects related to the field of Marine Technology, such as:
- Concept development
- General design of ships and offshore objects
- Ship and offshore structural design
- Hydro-mechanics and -dynamics
- Maritime engineering and machinery systems
- Production processes of all types of ships and other objects intended for marine use
- Production technology and material science
- Shipping science, economics, and all directly related subjects
- Ship operations
- Offshore and ocean engineering in relation to the marine environment
- Marine safety
- Efficiency, lifecycle, and environment
- Ice-related aspects for ships and offshore objects.
The contents of the papers may be of a fundamental or of an applied scientific nature and must be of the highest novelty and rigor.

Abstract: A steady-state model of the flow of working fluid through a diesel engine and its turbocharger may be a large part of a mathematical model intended for computer simulation of engine and propulsion system transients. A steady flow model for a four-stroke turbocharged engine is presented, and the evaluation of its terms is described. In particular, methods of using engine operational data to evaluate cylinder volumetric efficiency, charge air cooler effectiveness, scavenging flow area, turbine nozzle area, and turbocharger turbine pulse factor are described and accompanied by sample calculations.

Abstract: A computer simulation program for the combustion proces in diesel engines has been developed with the objective to create a design tool which has a predictive nature and which is economical in use. In this first publication the reasons for the choice of the type of model will be explained. With the help of experimental research methods a physical experimental ‘Discrete droplet model’ has been developed. Methods for the determination of the initial conditions of the combustion proces – the fuel injection and combustion air conditions – and the verification of the simulation model will be discussed. The mathematical formulation …of the model and experimental verification of the calculated results will be discussed in the second publication. Show more
