The journal International Shipbuilding Progress (ISP) was founded in 1954. Each year two issues appear (in March and September). Publications submitted to ISP should describe scientific work of high international standards, advancing subjects related to the field of Marine Technology, such as:

Abstract: A theory has been formulated for calculating the properties of large hub to diameter ratio propellers with cyclic pitch control. In addition experimental results have been given for the efficiency and manoeuvring characteristics of such a device.

Abstract: Bending moments and shear forces were measured independently at Stations 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15 on a segmented, self-propelled, 10-ft mahogany model representing a ship of the Mariner Class. Model bending moments and shear forces, pitch angle, and heave acceleration, as well as wave height, were recorded simultaniouslv. The model was tested in head waves with wave length to model length ratios ranging from 0.75 to 2.00 and wave length to wave height ratios from 20 to 40. Test results and anlyses are presented.

Abstract: A quasi-stationary analysis is given for the cavitation phenomena, which occur when a propeller blade passes the stern of a ship. The camber induced by the flow leads to a camber decrease when the blade leaves the wake peak. This explains the inception of bubbles midchord, which grow towards the trailing edge. A simultaneous collapse of these bubbles at the trailing edge, when the induced camber disappears and the stagnation pressure becomes effective, is the cause of damage to the trailing edge. Some qualitative recommendations are given to prevent these troubles.

Abstract: An analysis of the effects of fluid injection on the drag of flat plates with turbulent boundary layers indicates no reduction in overall drag even though the local skin friction is less with fluid injection than without. This is accounted for by the drag due to the momentum changes of the injected fluid when taken from the ambient low.
