Abstract: In about one third of accommodation spaces in ships the required noise level is exceeded. Building of the ‘quiet’ ship requires applying prediction methods at a very early design stage. In this paper a new approach to prediction of A-weighted noise levels and octave band noise levels, based on the statistical multiple regression theory is proposed. The results of this method correspond with the measurement results and the accuracy of this method is comparable with other equivalent methods of prediction of A-weighted noise levels.

Abstract: In this investigation the influence of a Winkler type of elastic foundation on deflection of ship hull is studied. In addition the solution for deflection, shear force and bending moment is presented. Considering the laws of distribution of: weight forces, buoyant forces, water line area, moment of inertia of equivalent section; the above functions are obtained. All these enumerated functions are approximated in the form of harmonic series.
