Abstract: In order to avoid the noise during the closure of contactors and to improve their electrical performances, we regulate the speed of the contactor mobile part movement. The prestressing force of the pole spring generates a perturbation on the speed when the moving contact touches the fixed contacts. By simulations, we see that a simple speed control is not sufficient. In this paper, we propose a feed-forward control included in the control strategy to compensate the …prestressing force. Abstract: Magnetorheological (MR) dampers are new semi-active control devices in which the damping forces are controlled by magnetic field. In this study, the performance of a semi-active control system based on newly developed MR fluid damper is researched. A simple parallel plate model is used to investigate the MR damper's behavior. The comparison between the analytical and experimental results verifies the theoretical analysis. A Three-Degree-of-Freedom (3DOF) lumped-parameter model is introduced to represent a …model-scale civil structure installed with the damper. Semi-active control method such as Continuous Sliding Mode (CSM) controller is simulated. Excellent results are obtained when this strategy is applied. The results demonstrate that the MR damper has the potential for improving the seismic behavior of civil structures. Show more

Abstract: Multi-period repetitive controllers were proposed by Gotou et al., in order to improve the disturbance attenuation characteristic of modified repetitive control systems. Recently, the parametrization of all stabilizing multi-period repetitive controllers was obtained. Since the parametrization of all stabilizing multi-period repetitive controllers was obtained, we can express previous studies of multi-period repetitive controllers in a uniform manner. In addition, a multi-period repetitive controller can be designed systematically. However, an application of control …system using the parametrization of all stabilizing multi-period repetitive controllers has not examined yet. In this paper, we show the effectiveness of the control system using the parametrization of all stabilizing multi-period repetitive controllers for reduction of rotational unevenness in motors. Abstract: The deployment simulation of folded inflatable antenna beam is important to understand inflatable deployment behavior in space environment as well as guiding and improving future packaging and deployment concepts. This paper shows a finite element analyzing method of the deployment motion, which is based on a control volume (CV) approach. The ideal gas law and explicit integral method are used to simulate the deployment process. Three folded configurations, namely Z-folded/coiled/ telescopically-folded configurations …are investigated. Furthermore, for Z-folded inflatable beam, the effects of inflation rate and membrane thickness on deployment behavior are discussed. The simulation results show that the main factors to affect the deployment stabilization of inflatable structures are the corresponding folded configuration, inflation rate and membrane thickness. Abstract: This paper proposes the method to establish of the prediction system of chest skin motion with SSA method. The Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA) was applied for the prediction of time series data. A simulation system was developed to predict the location of some points of chest skin during breathing. CCD camera motion capture system (KEYENCE, CV-035C) was used to get the time series data. The prediction results showed good agreement with the measured data and they …showed hopeful possibility to realize the chasing radiotherapy technique. Show more

Abstract: Based on the energy conservation principle and thermodynamic equations, an analytical model of soft landing considering the elasticity of airbag fabric was presented. The analytical model was verified by comparing the results with those results from a similar simulation using ls-dyna and our design-oriented model is solved with less calculation time than the finite element method. Then this analytical model was used to investigate the deceleration characteristics of a horizontal cylinder airbags. A series of …simulations were conducted to find out the influence of fabric elasticity, initial airbag pressure, and vent size on attenuating properties. Show more

Abstract: This paper investigates the dynamic behaviour of a typical rotor-active magnetic bearings (AMBs) system with delayed feedback. The method of multiple scales is used to obtain the averaged equations in the case of primary resonance and 1/3 subharmonic resonance. The effect of short delay in feedback loop of system on the resonances is studied with respect to the steady-state response and stability of the system. Results of the studies show that time delay not only influences …the amplitude and phase of primary resonance and 1/3 subharmonic resonances, as well as resonance region, but also has a significant effect on threshold of excitation amplitude that can induce 1/3 subharmonic resonance. Abstract: The intrinsic hysteresis behavior of piezoelectric material limits the tracking control accuracy of the actuators. This paper describes a tracking control method for piezoelectric actuators based on the combination of feedforward and feedback loops. The hysteresis of piezoelectric actuators is linearized in feedforward loop with an inverse hysteresis model based on a neural network. The number of parameters in the neural network based inverse model is relatively small and the parameters are easy to identify. The …feedback loop is used to reduce the accumulated error produced by the inverse hysteresis model. The experimental results show that the accuracy is significantly improved in tracking control by using the combination of feedback and feedforward control. Show more

Abstract: Though many methods exist for detecting damage in a structure, few of them can be used to identify the debonding defect between the surface and inner layer of a lattice truss sandwich plate. In this paper, a vibration signal based nondestructive testing method using Uniform Load Surface (ULS) curvature is applied to detect the delamination defects of the lattice sandwich plate. The feasibility of the approach is investigated through numerical simulation by using commercial software for …different damage configurations. The numerical results show that there is a good possibility to detect delamination defects in the lattice sandwich plate from vibration signals by using the ULS curvature strategy. Show more

Abstract: Active control is mainly used in geometry linear structure. In the article, we discuss the feasibility of active control for a geometry nonlinear structure, circular truss antenna. The simulation result shows the maximal active force amplitude and attenuation quotient is related with the effect of decreasing vibration closely. Improper parameters cause the "over-counteract" or "under-counteract" phenomenon in the fixed dominated time interval. In addition, we find proper active control doesn't cause the evident local cable …mode in the receiving surface stretched by cables when the initial pre-strain of radial cable is enough. Show more
