Abstract: To improve the braking force of the Linear Permanent Magnet Eddy Current Brakes (LPMECB) under a large Air Gap (AG) length, this paper presents a novel structure of the LPMECB, named H-type Linear Permanent Magnet Eddy Current Brake (H-type LPMECB). To begin with, the analytical model of the LPMECB is established by using the equivalent magnetic circuit method, and it is found that the AG reluctance is greater than that of the other parts of the LPMECB. Based on this, a novel H-type LPMECB is proposed in order to compensate the influence of the AG. The H-type LPMECB adds Iron …Foils (IFs) in the AG. These IFs are rectangular sheets made of pure iron. Furthermore, the finite element model of the H-type LPMECB is established to optimize the geometry parameter of the IFs, then the braking performance of the H-type LPMECB is measured. The simulations show that the optimal geometry parameter of the IFs of the H-type LPMECB is 0.25 ∗ L , and the braking performance of the H-type LPMECB is superior to that of the LPMECB, around three times. Finally, experiments were conducted, which validated the simulations. Show more

Abstract: Due to the large amount of finite element calculation resources, the calculation stability is low. In order to obtain accurate torque data conveniently, a new torque modeling method is proposed in this paper. By establishing the minimum torque model, the finite element software is used to obtain elementary torque map, and the torque within the whole rotor motion range is built by polynomial fitting, and then the position torque in the process of rotor motion under different currents is obtained by multiple linear interpolation method, and converted to the global coordinate system by projection. The multicoil torque is superimposed and …corrected by using the dynamic error coefficient to obtain the final synthetic torque. Finally, the effectiveness of the modeling method is verified by simulation and experiments. The results show that this method not only ensures the modeling accuracy, but also speeds up the calculation. Show more

Abstract: Wireless power transfer (WPT) technology has been widely used in industrial and household fields. This technology is of great significance in the field of motor drives. However, if the WPT technology is applied to the motor drive and control system, power and control signals need to be transmitted at the same time, which will cause the problem of mutual interference between signals of different frequencies, and will also increase the difficulty of frequency decomposition on the secondary side. To solve the above problems, a dual-frequency simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) system using a tapped coil structure scheme is …proposed and the design principle of the tapped coil is given. Based on this scheme, a multi-frequency pulse width modulation (MFPWM) method is used to generate two components of different frequencies by the same inverter, which are automatically decoupled by the tapped coil, and finally transmitted to drive and control the motor. A closed-loop control strategy is used to solve the problem of precise motor speed control when the driving voltage of the wireless motor fluctuates. In the experiment, the motor speed increased from 1965 rpm to 2265 rpm, and the DC voltage corresponding to the set reference speed increased from 1.26 V to 2.30 V. The experimental results show that the scheme can control the BLDC motor speed stably and accurately. Show more

Abstract: In this paper, we propose an order reduction method which can be applied in the approximated analytical model for linear permanent magnet machines (LPMMs). The proposed model takes the periodic boundary condition into account the Poisson and Laplace equations, hence, the analytical solution requires low harmonic orders in each subdomain. The magnetic results show that the proposed model can maintain high accuracy while taking low computational time. 2D finite element computations, as well as measurements, validate the proposed model. The proposed model in this paper can also be further applied in permanent magnet machines with high pole and slot combination, …to reduce the computational time. Show more

Abstract: To solve the problems of the Bouc-Wen model with multi-identification parameters, low accuracy, complex methods, and difficulty in implement, this study proposes a new way for parameter identification of the Bouc-Wen model of the magnetorheological (MR) damper by parameter sensitivity analysis and modified PSO algorithm. The one-at-a-time method (OAT) of local sensitivity analysis is utilized to analyze the unknown parameters in the Bouc-Wen model to complete the model simplification. Then, the modified PSO algorithm is used to identify the parameters of the simplified Bouc-Wen model. Finally, with the relationship between the currents and identified parameters, a Bouc-Wen model for current …control is constructed by the curve fitting method. The results confirm that the parameter identification efficiency achieved via the parameter sensitivity analysis is improved by 50% by reducing the parameters of the Bouc-Wen model from 8 to 4. Then, compared with the standard PSO (SPSO) algorithm, the modified one is accurate and stable, and the convergence speed is increased by 17.65% on average. At last, compared with the test data under three different sinusoidal excitations, the model’s accuracy is 89.11%, 92.56%, and 87.45%, respectively. The method proposed in this research can rapidly and accurately identify the Bouc-Wen model and lays a theoretical foundation for applying the MR damper model in vibration control. Show more

Abstract: In order to improve the dynamic characteristics of the contactor, this paper proposes a new dynamic displacement prediction method for contactors with constant air gap. The dynamic displacement process can be predicted by observing the flux linkage produced by the permanent magnet. The equivalent magnetic circuit model of electromagnetic force driving actuator (EMFA) is established. The formulas of dynamic flux linkage, displacement and current are deduced, and the displacement prediction of the contactor is completed. The curved surfaces of driving force, flux linkage, displacement and current are established by finite element method. The movement process of the contactor is dynamically …simulated by interpolation method. Finally, an EMFA-driven contactor is used for the experiment. Experimental results show that the new dynamic displacement prediction method is suitable for contactors with constant air gap. On the basis of sensorless control, bounce time of the contact can be effectively reduced by adjusting the PWM duty cycle and the corresponding displacement control parameters. The research in this article can be used to guide the design of future controllers. And the simulation results are consistent with the experimental results. The experiment verifies the effectiveness of the new dynamic displacement prediction method. Show more
