Abstract: Time-periodic non-sinusoidal solutions of the magnetic diffusion equation are expressible either in the form of time-harmonic series or as space eigenfunction series. Based on the latter, eddy-current losses in a multilayer winding carrying a trapezoidal current are evaluated. Optimum layer thickness is obtained by minimizing the resistance factor of the multilayer winding. Formulae for square and symmetrical triangular waveforms are also included.

Abstract: The use of a tapped inductor in the classical sepic converter leads to a high step-down ratio thus avoiding the extreme duty cycles of the active switch and the high peak currents in the active and passive switches. The function and some stress data of such a converter are summarized and the flux density and the current through the inductor during start-up are measured and simulated by the energetic model of ferromagnetic hysteresis and the magnetic …losses of the inductors are calculated. Abstract: In this paper, the rotor part of the SRM (switched reluctance motor) is designed by topology optimization method. The objective function is the desired system energy profile considering the rotation angle of the rotor. The topology optimization method can design the optimal shape and topology of SRM rotor without any prior knowledge of the basic rotor layout. The density method is used to establish the relationship between the design variables and material properties, and mutual energy …method is used to calculate the design sensitivity. Show more

Abstract: A numerical method was developed for modeling acoustic standing waves emerging in high-pressure discharge lamps. The applied model takes the inhomogeneous distribution of propagation velocity into account, which is caused by the temperature profile. Arc physics was not considered. Software was implemented based on the finite element method. In addition to the sole computation of waves in some practical arrangements, also the validity of the applied model was investigated.

Abstract: A rational quartic triangular Bézier patch enables us to numerically represent an octant of a sphere with neither shape errors nor degeneration of nodes, when it adopts the control points and weights derived by Farin. This patch allows us to avoid undesirable influences caused by the misrepresentation of a spherical shape, if the objects to be treated involve an octant of a sphere in the field analysis by a boundary subdivision method. We have carried out …a static field calculation for a spherical dielectric placed in a homogeneous applied field with a surface charge method by introducing a simple method that constructs arbitrary mesh patterns on this patch. Abstract: Active shielding effect was examined in a negative feedback circuit system consisting of a magneto-impedance effective sensor, an amplifier and a canceling coil to compensate external magnetic field noise. The frequency dependent active shielding effectiveness depends on the phase difference between the input and output sensor signals in a loop, whch were less than 90 degree up to 20,000 Hz. An excellent characteristic of active shielding effectiveness of 48 dB was obtained for the external magnetic …field noise from dc field to the frequency of 2,000 Hz. Show more

Abstract: This paper deals with the examination of low frequency magnetic shielding. In the designe of magnetic shielding, plate can play a significant role in emphasizing the importance of shielding. The magnetic field was examined including the shielding sheets with various magnetic properties. The field of the linear magnetic sheet was calculated first, and the non-linear properties of shielding plate were taken into account with a non-linear H -- M characteristic in the second …case. Abstract: A recently developed method for the accurate calculation of current density distribution is firstly applied to a practical case with the 3-D finite element analysis. The deflection yoke (DY) for the CRT system is adopted for the simulation. The simulated results are verified by comparing with an experimental data.

Abstract: The paper presents a comparison of the magnetic field and magnetic characteristics of a PM disk motor with laminated magnetic stator open slot core, laminated magnetic stator closed slot core with soft magnetic composite and soft magnetic composite stator core. The data for this analysis is provided by a 2D FEM calculation of the magnetic field. After the proper modelling of the motor a calculation of the magnetic field for no load and current load is …performed, for the three models. The results of the magnetic field distribution, air gap flux density distribution and the values of the magnetic and electric parameters for the three models are also presented. Show more
