Human Systems Management (HSM) is an interdisciplinary, international, refereed journal. It addresses the need to mentally grasp and to in-form the managerial and societally organizational impact of high technology, i.e., the technology of self-governance and self-management.
The gap or gulf is often vast between the ideas world-class business enterprises and organizations employ and what mainstream business journals address. The latter often contain discussions that practitioners pragmatically refute, a problematic situation also reflected in most business schools’ inadequate curriculæ.
To reverse this trend, HSM attempts to provide education, research and theory commensurate to the needs to today’s world-class, capable business professionals. Namely the journal’s purposefulness is to archive research that actually helps business enterprises and organizations self-develop into prosperously successful human systems.

Abstract: Information technology (IT) prioritization is the subject of many research activities in both academia and industry. There has been little discussion, to date, of the potential impact of inter-related technologies on prioritization decisions. Most studies have assumed that all technologies are mutually exclusive and that there are no relationships among the technologies. It is likely, however, that some technologies are inter-related at least to some degree. For example, computer hardware and electronics or Internet and information security are considered to be closely related. The overall rankings of low-demand technologies may, therefore, be different when their relationships to high-demand technologies are …considered. This paper presents a scoring method that incorporates the correlations of information technologies in its prioritization process. In a case study, this method enabled an Asian governmental agency to successfully prioritize and allocate resources. Show more

Abstract: The over-half-a-century collective experience of transferring management knowledge from the West into China is analysed based on a pragmatic conception of knowledge and a contingency model of transfer. Findings suggest that cross-border transmission will be more effective if actors (1) carefully investigate the transferabilities of ideals, tools and practice in management innovations, and (2) consciously pursue theoretically informed copying, adapting and mutual learning strategies. This allows a proposition that a culturally and institutionally sensitive perspective that nurtures international communities of knowing is crucial for globally informed indigenous management.

Abstract: In the present study, we attempt to understand the position of strategic human resources management in the small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) in France. The aim of this research is double. Firstly, to respond to the calls of several authors to multiply HRM studies in SME. Secondly, to enrich our knowledge about SHRM in another context than North America and large companies, most often studied. This research took the form of a dynamic analysis based on longitudinal data of 388 French SMEs. The results show a progression of strategic HRM practices and a regression of administrative HRM practices. This important …result shows that SME can also adopt flexible HRM practices. Show more

Abstract: Times sure have changed. A hundred years or so ago, the question would have been asked, “Do you expect to die on the job?” or “Do you expect to make enough to feed your family?” Now everyone is trying to figure out how to be happier. Now fast forward, in the middle of all the current financial crisis, it is easy to lose sight of the fact that with wage growth, record unemployment, and an extremely long economic expansion, job satisfaction is lower than in earlier years. Clinical depression is three to ten times more common today than it was …two generations ago. The increasing body of evidence shows there is no significant relationship between how much a person earns and whether he or she feels good about life. Mounting research shows that optimism could extend your life. Research clearly shows that happiness depends on how you look at the world. In negative times, focus on the positive. Show more

Abstract: “Multi-Intelligence Aptitude” includes linguistic, logical mathematics, space extensity, limbs mobility, musical sensitivity, public relation, introspection and nature observation. The 8 intelligence are complementary to each other, the strong intelligence could awake the weak intelligence and the relation between multi-intelligence aptitude and personal interest and working capability are so close that they could be used as an important reference index for selecting and culturing human resource. Based on the above viewpoint we will use the multi-intelligence aptitude to design the questionnaire and analyze the data by the 6-sigma methodology to develop a new talent selection model. Firstly we distributed the questionnaire …to the qualified engineers and analyzed the interaction between the static and dynamic characteristics; and then survey the job applicant with the same questionnaire and draw out the “Radar chart” and “Performance Control chart” of qualified engineer and job applicant, respectively. Then after calculation we have the “similarity” and “differentiation” data of their multi-intelligence aptitude; and furthermore to find the job applicant that has higher similarity of multi-intelligence aptitude with the qualified engineer and have more relation of the intelligence needed for the job. The analysis model proposed in this article in addition to be used for selecting job applicant, it could provide to student as an important aptitude reference index of aptitude in job seeking. Abstract: What is the link between Strategic Human Resources Management (SHRM) and Knowledge transfer? That is the question we should answer in our study that is meant to be innovative thanks to the connection with Strategic Human Resources Management, considered as major factor of competencies management. To our knowledge, few studies considered this question, except some lone attempts which did not find an objective answer. The field of SHRM has gone threw a marked evolution for more than two decades, from an accounting approach to a competencies based one. The latest approach, as outcome of this evolution, advances the internal …organizational capacities rather than the external constraints. We develop our analysis in this perspective (competencies based approach). Our study reports an exploratory case study which aims at understanding the HRM contribution to tacit knowledge transfer in a French crystal manufacture we named “Alpha enterprise”. Show more
