Human Systems Management (HSM) is an interdisciplinary, international, refereed journal. It addresses the need to mentally grasp and to in-form the managerial and societally organizational impact of high technology, i.e., the technology of self-governance and self-management.
The gap or gulf is often vast between the ideas world-class business enterprises and organizations employ and what mainstream business journals address. The latter often contain discussions that practitioners pragmatically refute, a problematic situation also reflected in most business schools’ inadequate curriculæ.
To reverse this trend, HSM attempts to provide education, research and theory commensurate to the needs to today’s world-class, capable business professionals. Namely the journal’s purposefulness is to archive research that actually helps business enterprises and organizations self-develop into prosperously successful human systems.

Abstract: This quantitative study empirically analyzes the relation between leader humility and innovative behavior by assessing the moderating role of intrapreneurial personality. Cross-sectional data were collected from 498 respondents in Karachi, Pakistan. The study has two purposes. First, on the basis of signaling theory, it investigates the relation between leader behavior (humility) and innovative behavior (at the individual level). Second, on the basis of personality and individual differences it considers follower effects to investigate whether the intrapreneurial personalities of subordinates moderates this relationship, using a PROCESS macro to test two-way interactions. Empirical assessments of the hypotheses show that intrapreneurial personality plays …a distinct moderating role between leader humility and innovative behavior. Abstract: The purpose of this paper was to present a pilot analysis on the most effective ways of motivating programmers in Poland. The reason for the choice of the research question was that the IT industry, which is developing dynamically in Poland encounters a growing demand for workers. A synthetic review of the literature on motivating work factors for specialists in the IT industry was conducted and presented. A sample of opinions in the form of in-depth interviews was gathered and analyzed. Results are presented. Discussion and implications are carried out. The main conclusion of the pilot study is that motivating …factors for Polish programmers mainly include high pay, personalized perks and organization of working conditions, as well as interesting projects and giving the possibility of professional development. The challenge for superiors is to ensure efficient communication between all stakeholders and a fair division of tasks. Abstract: The sustainability issues in higher educational institutions have attracted an increasing level of attention from policymakers during the last decades. This is arguably due to the increased level of consciousness in society on sustainability issues; and the significant impacts of campus activities on both environment and communities. Also, digital technologies such as websites, online discussion forums, social media, content-sharing platforms, mobile apps, and wearable devices are now accessible for young people to learn about and promote their physical fitness and health. Therefore, in this paper, the impact of the ergonomic architectural design of gym, and social network on the desire …of students for sports activities is investigated. A cross-sectional study was conducted with 500 students (275 girls and 225 boys; age 12–18 years), who responded to research questionnaires. The data were analyzed using PLS-SEM and Smart-PLS version 3.2. The obtained results showed the high strength of the proposed model. Abstract: The information communication technology (ICT) and networking are playing a significant role in supporting and empowering women entrepreneurs in Pakistan. We focused on four core factors that greatly influence women entrepreneurs and studied them through structural equation modeling (SEM) in AMOS 22 software. Our results show that family support positively affects the success of women entrepreneurs. Besides, the education level and knowledge of ICT and networking are empowering women entrepreneurs. We also conclude that networking relations through ICT tools positively aid women entrepreneurs in case where face to face meetings are not possible. The educated women can effectively use ICT …and networking tools to become a successful entrepreneur. Abstract: Knowledge has become a key factor to success in social environments and virtual communities. Also, human resources are a critical part of the creation and dissemination of the knowledge-based resources in virtual communities. Comprehensive understanding of virtual community dynamics can aid us to address critical organizational and information systems issues. Furthermore, virtual communities have gained high acceptance for people to learn and share knowledge. However, the detailed review and deep discussion in this filed are very rare. Therefore, this paper reviews and discusses the recently introduced mechanisms in this field as well as providing a deep analysis of their applied …domains. This survey will help to a conceptual understanding of nature and the position of KS in virtual communities. Moreover, the drawbacks and benefits of the reviewed mechanisms in three categories such as social factors, motivation factors, and medical factors have been discussed and the main challenges of these mechanisms are highlighted for developing more efficient KS in virtual communities in the future. The obtained results indicated that helps the creativity and the success of the organizations, saving time and cost, reducing medical errors and also optimizing the learning effect. Abstract: The development of online peer-to-peer lending is in full bloom due to the support of network technology and information technology. More and more people are keen to participate in them. Online P2P lending platforms provide services where investors lend money to borrowers without the involvement of traditional financial institutions. Due to its convenience, the platforms have attracted many investors and borrowers. However, these investors may suffer a significant loss if they cannot make better borrowing decisions based on prediction credit risk. The purpose of this article is to study the relationship between successful borrowing times (SBT) and successful loans and …default loans. This article further explores SBT plays an importance of the role in online P2P lending. Data was collected from PaiPaiDai, an online P2P lending platform in China. Logistic modeling was employed to test the proposed hypotheses. The results show that the probability of default loan by borrowers with more SBT is low, and the probability of successful loan is higher. It shows that investors are more willing to choose borrowers with more SBT. The investors can effectively recognize the value of SBT in the transaction process, and can identify credit risk through SBT in the online P2P lending market. SBT can predict credit risk, which suggests the proposed method has favorable potential being implemented in real-world P2P lending platforms. Show more

Abstract: This paper presents a theoretical analysis based of virtue ethics. We examine the individual internal predispositions related to non-virtuous behavior in the context of an ethical dilemma. For Aristotle, the virtuous state of being requires certain dispositions, but the difficult context of a “genuine dilemma” can generate interference and obstacles to achieving a virtuous state. The genuine dilemma is a symptomatic situation that disrupts our ethical identity by the potential biases that affect our personality traits and moral acts. These disturbances cause a phenomenon described by philosophers as “akrasia”. We propose that this “weakness of will” influences the ethical decision-making …process, thereby leading to non-virtuous acts. Within the empirical literature, we identify three types of disturbances that feed akrasia: bounded ethicality, denial, and moral cowardice. These ethical biases disrupt one’s moral conscience by moving the individual away from the pursuit of virtue. Understanding these ethical errors contributes to enhancing ethical decision-making models, especially in terms of examining the failure of one’s will to act according to one’s values. We propose a conceptual model that explains non-virtuous attitudes to ethical dilemmas in management. Show more

Abstract: In this study we looked at whether job satisfaction and engagement have a positive connection with the level of career satisfaction. Career satisfaction also influences employee motivation and the achievement of better performance. This study is the first to look at the relationships between these three constructs (job satisfaction, work engagement and career satisfaction). The study participants were 1,168 employees of the University of Ljubljana (55.7 % of them women) with an average age of 42.8 years. Participants completed the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) , the Career Satisfaction Scale (CSS) and the Job Satisfaction Questionnaire , all of them …online. The following factors were shown to be important predictors of career satisfaction: a managerial position, engagement, job satisfaction, satisfaction with co-workers, satisfaction with opportunities for promotion and education, and satisfaction with salary. The findings indicate the important role of employers in shaping and developing adequate career satisfaction. Show more

Abstract: In the field of international human resource management, a widely held assumption identifies expatriation as a completely enriching experience which provides employees with knowledge of high value and contributes to enhancing general management capacity [24 ]. This research investigates the effect of expatriation on knowledge transfer as a driver for innovation and performance. The study uses the case of international faculty in a higher education institution to shed light on the interplay between sharing international experiences, facilitating knowledge transfer, and generating value. Following a thorough literature review, research on knowledge transfer processes within the education sector remains limited. We still …have little guidance on the mechanisms enabling knowledge transfer inside universities, particularly when promoting faculty mobility or hiring international faculty and researchers. This research adopts a single case study method while using Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, an international higher education institution, as a context of investigation. The study involved international faculty from the schools of engineering, business, and humanities and also Moroccan faculty who received their education abroad to explore the processes of experience and knowledge sharing among diverse workforce and how such processes could lead to creating a space for knowledge transfer that enables in turn better innovation and performance. The findings of this research show the limited knowledge transfer dynamics inside internationally-oriented higher education institutions and demonstrate the importance of adopting human resource development practices as facilitating mechanisms to support knowledge transfer while involving and benefitting various stakeholders. The study suggests different developmental venues for universities to support knowledge transfer from international faculty including teamwork, training and faculty orientation, collaborative research projects, resources and incentives, and industry-oriented educational and consulting programs. This research has the potential to lay the foundations of a theoretical framework integrating knowledge transfer and value generation dynamics within the context of higher education. Show more
