Human Systems Management (HSM) is an interdisciplinary, international, refereed journal. It addresses the need to mentally grasp and to in-form the managerial and societally organizational impact of high technology, i.e., the technology of self-governance and self-management.
The gap or gulf is often vast between the ideas world-class business enterprises and organizations employ and what mainstream business journals address. The latter often contain discussions that practitioners pragmatically refute, a problematic situation also reflected in most business schools’ inadequate curriculæ.
To reverse this trend, HSM attempts to provide education, research and theory commensurate to the needs to today’s world-class, capable business professionals. Namely the journal’s purposefulness is to archive research that actually helps business enterprises and organizations self-develop into prosperously successful human systems.

Abstract: BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVE: In today’s volatile business environment, the competitive advantages of firms are temporary. The top management does not, and cannot, have all the answers to increasingly complex and rapidly changing problem situations facing their firms. Since the COVID-19 crisis, organizations have been under pressure to improve their knowledge management practices to continue creating value. Knowledge management capabilities are essential for business performance and competitive advantage. In order to ensure continuous value creation, we conducted research to identify various drivers and dimensions that were revitalized in the ongoing KM practices post-pandemic. METHODOLOGY: In this study, 81 research papers published …between January 2010 and March 2022, have been examined from a knowledge management, human capital, and value creation perspective, aiming to understand how a firm can continue to create value before, during, and after the pandemic. RESULTS/CONCLUSION: Our review identifies critical factors in knowledge management and value creation and how companies generate value by leveraging KM during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of the research, the authors describe their findings in the form of a conceptual framework which deals with the various drivers and the factors within the KM architecture. Show more

Abstract: BACKGROUND: In order to gain a competitive advantage or survive, organizations need to reorient themselves once in a while, and in distress tend to rely on turnaround strategies. The organization must ensure that the turnaround strategy implemented is effective. OBJECTIVE: This study explores and investigates the implementation of turnaround strategies during a crisis by manufacturing firms with the help of a conceptual model combining turnaround strategies and McKinsey’s 7s framework as the mediating variables. METHODS: A questionnaire comprising 35 questions was circulated amongst the employees of various manufacturing firms operating in India and 230 data samples …were collected. RESULTS: The findings of this study indicate that manufacturing firms tend to implement turnaround strategies in the form of Operational, Financial, Leadership, Structural and Strategic methods for their survival and reorientation. Abstract: BACKGROUND: Like Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrencies, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) count on blockchain technology, and NFTs are the latest and the most popular in a series of blockchain solutions. Traders in this ecosystem need to pay a dynamic fee, called a gas fee, for making any transactions on the Ethereum blockchain. The gas fee is measured by gwei, and traders must consider this as an additional cost. So, the current price of this fee may affect the decision of NFT creators or traders. OBJECTIVE: This study investigates the interrelationships between NTFs, cryptocurrencies (Ethereum and BTC), and gas fees …using daily market data from January 2019 to November 2021. METHOD: Fourier Shin’s (2016) cointegration test, Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares, and Group Dynamic Least Squares tests were employed to analyze the data. Then, the variance Decomposition method was applied to determine what other variables explain the percentage of the total variance on NFTs— it also used Impulse-response functions for measuring the response of the NFTs variable for one standard deviation shock. RESULTS: Results show that an increase in gas fees, the daily volume of Bitcoin, and the daily volume of Ethereum decrease NFTs sales. There is a unidirectional relationship between lnSales and lnGasFee variables. Also, there is a determined unidirectional relationship between lnBTC and lnSales variables. Lastly, there is a one-way causality relationship between lnSales and lnETH variables. CONCLUSIONS: The primary causation of the relationship between NFTs, gas fees and Ethereum fees is most likely related to the use of Ethereum as the primary means of payment in the NFTs market and gas fees being a significant cost element in NFTs trading. Another point of view is that the dominance of Bitcoin in the market is very effective in pricing of other cryptocurrencies and in the sales and pricing of NFTs indirectly. Abstract: BACKGROUND: This study examines the effect of entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial intentions and individual motivations and the mediation of individual motivations in the relationship between entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial intentions. METHODS: We tested 374 questionnaire samples using quantitative research methods. We used PLS-SEM and mediation analyses to analyze the data. RESULTS/CONCLUSIONS: First, the findings show that entrepreneurship education positively affects individual motivations of entrepreneurial intentions, personal attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and need for achievement. Second, subjective norms and the need for achievement did not impact entrepreneurial intentions compared to personal attitudes and perceived behavior. …Finally, we found that while personal attitudes and perceived behavioral control mediated the relationship between entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial intentions, subjective norms and the need for achievement had no effect. The study contributes to the literature and provides policy and managerial implications for macro and micro factors affecting entrepreneurial intentions in transition economies. Show more

Abstract: BACKGROUND: Many studies are focused on safety culture. There is no study on employees’ perceptions of safety culture in natural health resorts. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to examine the concept of safety culture from the perspective of the employees in natural health resorts in Slovenia. METHODS: The survey was administered to a sample of 268 employees in six Slovenian natural health resorts to measure the attitudes, practices/behaviors, knowledge, and training of employees. RESULTS: The results of the survey did not show a statistical correlation between the employees’ safety attitudes and their age, their level …of education and their position within the organization. However, this study revealed significant differences in understanding of the safety measures and selected safety attitudes across six resorts. Similarly, the study revealed significant differences in knowledge and understanding of the safety protocols across six resorts. The results are reflecting higher management safety awareness in selected resorts what could result in an important competitive advantage for a selected organization. CONCLUSIONS: The research provides an in-depth insight into the concept of safety culture, presented through the attitudes, practices/behaviors, knowledge, and training of employees in natural health resorts in Slovenia. Findings contribute to the development of conceptual knowledge in safety science. Show more

Abstract: BACKGROUND: The sales stereotype has been studied since the beginning of the last century; in particular, the perceptions held by university students are relevant, because they may be reluctant to consider a career in sales due to common misconceptions about the profession. This is even more relevant as the role of the salesperson has evolved over the years, and companies are interested in hiring this profile from HEI. The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated the change in sales, and new skills, activities and paradigms are challenging the profession. OBJECTIVE: Aiming to address a potential gap in sales education, this …paper examines the perceptions of salespeople among university students, and students’ orientation toward sales careers in a changing sales environment. METHOD: Focus group methodology using a special technique of animal metaphors was used to examine how the most noticeable characteristics of animals are mapped onto salespeople. RESULTS: The pre-pandemic and post-pandemic periods seems to confirm the persistence of the overall students’ perceptions of the salesperson but at the same time new competences and skills emerge for a new generation of salespersons. CONCLUSIONS: These findings update and enrich the existing literature with a new work on sales stereotypes that sheds light on students’ perceptions of salespeople after the pandemic. Show more

Abstract: BACKGROUND: The process of Digitizing Education has experienced significant growth in recent times, particularly under the background of COVID-19. Enterprises have ushered in new transformation needs, and digital education is the foundation of digital management. OBJECTIVE: Based on the entropy value method, it indicates the prominent factors affecting the progress of digital education. Give suggestions on human resource development and educational digitization. METHODS: Using panel data for 32 countries from 2015 to 2022. This study integrates digital technology, digital education economic environment, digital skills, and information literacy to establish an evaluation index system for assessing the …level of digital education. RESULTS: The entropy value indicates that digital technology holds a prominent role in affecting the progress of human resources. Well-developed digital education can promote human resource management. CONCLUSIONS: The proposed digital technology has an important impact on the development of digital education and human resource management. Enterprises should pay more attention to the introduction of high-quality information talents to realize the digital transformation of enterprise management.
