Abstract: We propose a non-contact electromagnetic impact-torque device (EMI device) using induced currents, and its characteristics have been verified using 3-D finite element method (FEM) analysis and carrying out measurements on a prototype. This paper describes a new EMI device with a regenerative circuit. A boosting chopper circuit is connected to the proposed EMI device, and the impact torque is controlled using the regenerated power.
