Abstract: A numerical model dedicated to the simulation of external eddy current testing (ECT) of tubes from the outer diameter surface has been developed. This paper is focused on the calculation of the primary electric field emitted by a tilted and off-centered encircling probe. Numerical difficulties are overcome by using splines functions for multivariate integration. Final simulation results obtained with the complete numerical model are compared to experimental data in the case of an off-centre probe in conditions close to industrial ones.
Keywords: Non-destructive testing, encircling probe, tilt and eccentricity, splines functions
