Abstract: Piezoelectric devices shunted on resistive-inductive loads typically operates on a single mode of a structure as their mechanical counterparts: the vibration absorbers. Similarly, multiple piezo patches, operating on different vibrating modes, may be used to perform a multi-modal damping. This result may be achieved either connecting different piezo patches to different electrical circuits, either connecting to a single multiple mode network one single set of piezo-electric elements. Several ladder networks were proposed in the past in order to damp more modes simultaneously. In this paper a Cauer network has been adopted together with notch filters having the duty to filter out one mode at a time. The possibility to use this type of circuit has been investigated studying the elastic and aeroelastic vibrations of a small glider wing by means the aeroelastic analysis performed by a commercial code based on a modal approach.
