Abstract: In recent years, affective computing has received much attention in the area of natural language processing and artificial intelligence. Sentiment orientation recognition of text is one of important parts in affective computing. A method is proposed to recognize the multi-label sentiment orientations of Chinese text based on three-way decisions. Firstly, sentiment orientation and intensity of sentiment words from texts are identified by sentiment lexicons, Tongyi Cilin and HowNet. Subsequently, sentiment orientation of text are divided into three domains, including positive, negative and boundary domain, according to their sentiment intensity and the appropriate decision-making thresholds. Lastly, sentiment orientations of texts in …the boundary domain are distinguished pursuant to sentimental characteristics of sentences in texts. The results of experiments show that the method of multi-label sentiment analysis of Chinese text, based on three-way decisions, is effective for identifying sentiment orientations of texts. Abstract: This study proposes a novel temporal planning approach based on Hierarchical Task Network (HTN) with uncontrollable durations for emergency decision-making. The objective is to generate a dynamically controllable (DC) plan which takes into account uncontrollable durations beforehand and to execute the plan via scheduling the actions dynamically. In this study, the action durations are modelled as temporal intervals by Simple Temporal Network with Uncertainty (STNU). Firstly, the temporal constraints among tasks are represented and reasoned. Next, a mechanism is proposed to hierarchically inherit the temporal constraints in HTN planning. Furthermore, two works are explored to generate a DC plan more …efficiently. The one is to construct a temporal network of tasks and check its dynamic controllability. The other one is to put forward two rules to boost the DC checking in planning. An empirical study on flood emergency response is conducted to evaluate the planning approach. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the planning approach for emergency decision-making. Show more

Abstract: In this paper, notions of M -fuzzifying convex matroids and M -fuzzifying (resp. strongly, decomposable) independent structures are introduced and their relations are discussed in details. Specifically, each M -fuzzifying independent structure generates an M -fuzzifying convex structure and each M -fuzzifying decomposable independent structure is strong. Especially, an M -fuzzifying independent structure is an M -fuzzifying decomposable independent structure iff it is generated by an M -fuzzifying convex matroid; an M -fuzzifying convex structure is an M -fuzzifying convex matroid iff it is generated by an M -fuzzifying decomposable independent structure.

Abstract: Noise reduction is a very important topic in image processing. In this paper, we present a novel method for reducing noise in an image corrupted by a mixture of Gaussian white noise and signal dependent noise. Our method can be built from any existing denoising methods. The main steps of our method can be described as follows: (a) reduce noise from the input noisy image, (b) take the logarithm of the denoised image, (c) reduce noise from the logarithm image, and (d) transform this noise-reduced logarithm image back to the original space. We conduct experiments for seven gray scale images …and we find that our method is always better than the method that it was built up from in term of peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR). However, our method is comparable to total least square (TLS) method, which is specifically designed for reducing signal dependent noise. The PSNR’s of our method are sometimes higher and sometimes lower than those of the TLS method. Nevertheless, our method is much faster than the TLS method in CPU computation time. Show more

Abstract: Let 0 ≠ p (x ) be a nondecreasing real valued function on [0, ∞) such that p (0) =0 and lim inf x → ∞ p ( λ x ) p ( x ) > 1 for every λ > 1 . Given a fuzzy-number-valued continuous function f (x ) on [0, ∞), we define s ( x ) : = ∫ 0 x f ( t ) dt and σ ( x ) : = 1 p ( x ) …∫ 0 x s ( t ) dp ( t ) , x > 0 . It is known that the limit lim x → ∞ s ( x ) = μ exists, then the limit lim x → ∞ σ ( x ) = μ also exists. But the converse of this implication need not be satisfied in general. In this paper, our goal is to find a condition under which the existence of lim x → ∞ σ ( x ) = μ follows from that of lim x → ∞ s ( x ) = μ . As special cases, we obtain some Tauberian conditions of slowly decreasing type and Landau type for the Cesàro summability method of improper integrals of fuzzy-number-valued functions. Show more

Abstract: Video smoke detection benefits life safety and environment protection. A method of video smoke detection using shape, color and dynamic texture features is presented in this paper. Firstly, an algorithm identifying cone geometry feature is used to distinguish conical region from dynamic regions. Secondly, conical regions are filtered by a color filtering algorithm to further test the candidate smoke region. Finally, a texture filtering algorithm is used to differentiate true smoke from candidate smoke regions. Experiments show that the proposed method is effective and it results in earlier and more reliable detection than the other two methods reported in the …literature. The processing rate of the smoke detection method achieves 25 frames per second with an image size of 320×240 pixels. Show more

Abstract: Microblogging, an internet-based social media application, is well adopted by people to show their ideas and to exchange their minds. It is also a valuable resource to capture people’s interests, thoughts and actions. The contents that people posted are widely spread with distinctive topical feature and contain sentiment-rich information of individuals. In this paper, a microblogging data mining system is developed, which has three functional modules: data preparation, topic analysis and sentiment computing. In data preparation, the microblogging data collecting module is implemented by hadoop and a storm based managing and preprocessing module is designed so that the data is …processed effectively and efficiently. For the topic analysis, an LDA based method is adopted to detect topics hidden in microblogs. We also propose a method to calculate the hot degree of each topic and to track the topic evolution. For the sentiment analysis, an integrated method by combining the emotion and the dictionary is introduced to quantify the sentiment. Furthermore, the system is used to make a spatial sentimental analysis on microblogging data from all provinces of China. The sentiment changes with topic or event are also presented with visualization. Show more

Abstract: In the last three to four decades, Fuzzy decision and Game theory are received great attention from the scientists, engineers, economists and businessmen, and achieved tremendous success as well. To realize the day-to-day problems, researchers use fuzzy and vague sets in their discussions of the game problems. In this article, we consider a matrix game whose payoffs are triangular intuitionistic fuzzy numbers and also apply robust ranking technique as ranking of fuzzy numbers to solve the matrix game. Different types of score function approaches, and accuracy function approaches are used in matrix games, but robust ranking technique to solve matrix …games is rare in use. We utilize the robust ranking technique to solve matrix game and analyze numerical examples to validate the proposed technique. We describe a conclusion about the proposed study with an outlook of future study. Show more

Abstract: The comparison of sets is an important topic with application in several fields. Divergence measures were introduced as an adequate measure of comparison of two fuzzy sets and an alternative of the dissimilarities. The particular study for local divergences is here generalized to any t-conorm instead just the sum. The concept of divergence is revisited and studied in detail. This study is complemented with the whole characterization of a new family of divergence measures, the generalized local divergence measures. Some applications of these divergences in pattern recognition and decision making illustrate their utility.

Abstract: The mathematical modeling is an important aspect in apprehending the discrete and continuous physical systems. A hypergraph is a key tool to understand and model the situations in applied sciences and various engineering branches. Sometimes information in a network model is based on multi-object, multi-polar information or uncertainty rather than a single bit. In this research article, we apply the concept of m -polar fuzzy sets to generalize the theory of transversals of hypergraphs. We introduce the notion of m -polar fuzzy transversals and locally minimal m -polar fuzzy transversals of m -polar fuzzy hypergraphs and investigate some of their …fundamental properties. We present interesting applications of m -polar fuzzy transversals in decision support system for investment management and the problem of finding minimum number of locations in a mesh network with least signal disturbance. We also design and implement algorithms for constructing m -polar fuzzy transversals, fundamental subsequence, determine a set of investment assets and finding minimum number locations in a mesh network.
