Abstract: A keyphrase is a sequence of words that play an important role in the identification of the topics that are embedded in a given document. Keyphrase extraction is a process which extracts such phrases. This has many important applications such as document indexing, document retrieval, search engines, and document summarization. This paper presents a framework for extracting keyphrases from Arabic news documents which is based on the KEA system. It relies on supervised learning, Naïve Bayes in particular, to extract keyphrases. Two probabilities are computed: the probability of being a keyphrase and the probability of not being a keyphrase. The …final set of keyphrases is chosen from the set of phrases that have high probabilities of being keyphrases. The novel contributions of the current work are that it provides insights on keyphrase extraction for news documents written in Arabic. It also presents an annotated dataset that was used in the experimentation. Finally, it uses Naïve Bayes as a medium for extracting keyphrases. Show more

Abstract: The Web information is too heterogeneous that users have difficulties to retrieve their needed information: text, image or video. Indeed, the collaborative work presents one solution proposed to solve this problem. Collaborative retrieval enables the retrieval histories’ sharing between users having the same profile across multiple tools such as annotations. However the user has always problems in choosing the terms to form his query. This paper has proposed collaborative Information Retrieval Model based on Fuzzy Confidence Network. Our approach allows the detection of relevant annotations to a given evidence source. These annotations are next filtered to determine which are relevant …to consider them as a new source of information that describes the document used to improve collaborative retrieval performance. We then measure the semantic relationships between terms which will be translated by the propagation of confidence. Experiments were conducted on different queries, showing very encouraging results that could reach an improvement rate. Show more

Abstract: With the rapid development of Customs information construction, the employment and management of resources has become the important factor for the sound development of Customs practice. The application of large amount of new facilities and new technologies imposes higher requirements on the management and service level of China Customs. A framework planning and design of the Customs service management which is combined with the actual needs of the Customs service management will help to promote standardization of Customs technology management and working procedure. High quality service will provide a safe and reliable technology operation environment for various business reforms. In …this paper, we investigate the multiple attribute decision making problems with the dual hesitant fuzzy information. Then, based on the induced OWG (IOWG) operator, this paper shall present the induced dual hesitant fuzzy Hamacher ordered weighted geometric (IDHFHOWG) operator. We have applied the IDHFHOWG operators to multiple attribute decision making for performance evaluation in customs service management with dual hesitant fuzzy information. Finally an illustrative example for performance evaluation in customs service management has been given to show the developed method. Show more

Abstract: Since asset returns have been recognized as not normally distributed, the avenue of research regarding portfolio higher moments soon emerged. To account for uncertainty and vagueness of portfolio returns as well as of higher moment risks, we proposed a new portfolio selection model employing fuzzy sets in this paper. A fuzzy multi-objective linear programming (MOLP) for portfolio optimization is formulated using marginal impacts of assets on portfolio higher moments, which are modelled by trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. Through a consistent centroid-based ranking of fuzzy numbers, the fuzzy MOLP is transformed into an MOLP that is then solved by the maximin method. …By taking portfolio higher moments into account, the approach enables investors to optimize not only the normal risk (variance) but also the asymmetric risk (skewness) and the risk of fat-tails (kurtosis). An illustrative example demonstrates the efficiency of the proposed methodology comparing to previous portfolio optimization models. Show more

Abstract: Although there are many ranking methods for type-1 fuzzy numbers, most of which exist some limitations. In this paper, we propose a new concept to rank type-1 fuzzy numbers, which defines the formats of possibility mean and variation coefficient. It not only clearly discriminates the ranking of the type-1 fuzzy numbers especially for the reasonable ranking of symmetric type-1 fuzzy numbers, but also satisfies the logicality of the ranking with their images’. Some properties of the proposed ranking methods are discussed. Then, we extend the concept to interval type-2 fuzzy numbers environment, and present a new ranking method with possibility …mean and variation coefficient forms. Some properties are also discussed. For ranking the type-1 fuzzy numbers and interval type-2 fuzzy numbers, the proposed ranking methods are easy to understand and their computations are simple. Several examples are proposed to illustrate the ranking of type-1 fuzzy numbers and interval type-2 fuzzy numbers, and the results show that it enriches the existing fuzzy ranking methods. Show more

Abstract: Type-2 fuzzy sets (T2FSs) have received increasing attention due to its great ability to handle imprecise and ambiguous information in reality. The purpose of this paper is to develop a general framework of type-2 fuzzy cross-entropy and entropy measures, which provides a fresh new look into the uncertainty of T2FSs. We first point out that uncertainty of a T2FS is consist of fuzziness and hesitancy, which could be described by the fuzzy factor and hesitant factor, respectively. A novel type-2 fuzzy cross-entropy has been initiated based on these two factors to measure the discrimination of uncertain information between two T2FSs. …Meanwhile, we refine the axiomatic principles of type-2 fuzzy entropy and study the inherent relationship between type-2 cross-entropy and entropy. Moreover, some parameterized type-2 fuzzy cross-entropy and entropy measures are also investigated, and decomposition formula suggests that type-2 fuzzy entropy could be expressed as the weighted average of the fuzzy entropy and hesitant entropy. Finally, we apply the proposed uncertainty measures to the clustering pattern of T2FSs and develop a new multiple attribute decision-making (MADM) approach. Show more

Abstract: Based on the concept of truth degree for logical formulas, a pseudo-metric is constructed on the set of all classical propositional formulas, and a metric is naturally induced on the corresponding Lindenbaum algebra of Boolean type, which constitutes a metric space, called the classical logic metric space. We respectively study both lattice completions and metric completions of this space, and compare the two kinds of completions from the angle of lattice structure as well as metric structure. On one hand, it is proved that metric completions of the classical logic metric space are complete Boolean algebras, which also act as …lattice completions of the Lindenbaum algebra. On the other hand, it is pointed out that the normal lattice completion of the Lindenbaum algebra constitutes a Boolean algebra as well, which is strictly smaller than metric completions of the classical logic metric space in the sense of order-embedding. Also, the normal lattice completion can be seen as a dense subspace of the metric completions in the sense of isometry. Show more

Abstract: This work introduces an optimization algorithm based on Bohr’s atomic model. Microcosm of physics and chemistry such as excitation and de-excitation of electrons in atom and bond formation phenomenon are the key mechanism of this algorithm. Performance of proposed algorithm is analyzed with six standard benchmark functions. Results are compared with three competitor algorithms. Results indicate competency of the proposed algorithm in generating good quality solutions with high convergence rate. Proposed algorithm is also applied to real life applications and examined comparative performance with respect to existing implementation of optimization techniques.

Abstract: Fixed point theorems are very important and advantageous concepts in mathematical analysis. In this paper, we establish Krasnoselskii-Burton fixed point theorem for fuzzy Banach space. Using fuzzy Krasnoselskii-Burton and applying some notions and definitions in fuzzy functions and fuzzy normed space such as compactness and convexity of fuzzy sets, contraction fuzzy mappings and equicontinuous fuzzy functions we prove the existence of global solution of functional fuzzy integral equations.
