Abstract: In 1987, a multistate demonstration project was initiated for illustrating the use of supported employment technology for persons with physical impairments. This article reports on the results of the project after the first two years, including the nature of the individuals served by the project, the outcomes achieved, and the problems and barriers encountered in delivering services to individuals from this population. Case studies are also presented which illustrate the use of assistive technology within a program of supported employment.

Abstract: In the past ten years, augmentative communication has become a factor in vocational rehabilitation. A history of augmentative communication is presented, as well as the role that vocational rehabilitation counselors can and often do play in the evaluation and implementation of an augmentative communication system.

Abstract: Included in this issue are five book reviews covering a diverse set of topics. I have solicited the assistance of members from Connecticut's Rehabilitation Engineering Center to provide their insights on the selected publications. Three of these resources are guides to give the rehabilitation professional access to current state-of-the-art technologies and information. A third review centers on the fundamentals of essential foundation information for rehabilitation personnel who assist persons with physical disabilities.
