Abstract: Advancement of information technology and its entry into the daily lives has transformed many traditional methods. With the introduction of electronic library services the quality of service provision became important for the evaluation of the electronic library services’ performance. The key factor in the quality of electronic services is how to receive and assess services by customers. Important factors are identified and combined and their importance is evaluated based on different models. This study is conducted to address the quality of the electronic library services with failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) in the intuitionistic-fuzzy environment in the Library of …Yazd University. Accordingly after reviewing the literature and interviews with library and information science (LIS) experts, 20 failure modes in Electronic library service quality are identified. After designing and distributing questionnaires among LIS experts and students the priority and importance of each failure modes is assessed by entropy based on FMEA model in the intuitionistic-fuzzy environment. Abstract: Uncertain differential equation plays an important role in dealing with dynamical systems with uncertainty. The uncertain factor of influencing dynamical system is not alone in many situations. Multifactor uncertain differential equation is a type of differential equation driven by multiple Liu processes. Stability analysis on uncertain differential equation is to investigate the qualitative properties, which is significant both in theory and application for uncertain differential equations. This paper focuses on the stability in p -th moment for multifactor uncertain differential equation, including the concept of stability in p -th moment, and the sufficient condition for multifactor uncertain differential equation being …stable in p -th moment. The relationship between stability in p -th moment and stability in measure is also discussed. Moreover, applications in finance and population dynamics are documented. Show more

Abstract: Artificial neural network (ANN) has been well applied in pattern recognition, classification and machine learning thanks to its high performance. Most ANNs are designed by a static structure whose weights are trained during a learning process by supervised or unsupervised methods. These training methods require a set of initial weights values, which are normally randomly generated, with different initial sets of weight values leading to different convergent ANNs for the same training set. Dealing with these drawbacks, a trend of dynamic ANN was invoked in the past year. However, they are either too complex or far from practical applications such …as in the pathology predictor in binary multi-input multi-output (MIMO) problems, when the role of a symptom is considered as an agent, a pathology predictor’s outcome is formed by action of active agents while other agents’ activities seem to be ignored or have mirror effects. In this paper, we propose a new dynamic structural ANN for MIMO problems based on the dependency graph, which gives clear cause and result relationships between inputs and outputs. The new ANN has the dynamic structure of hidden layer as a directed graph showing the relation between input, hidden and output nodes. The properties of the new dynamic structural ANN are experienced with a pathology problem and its learning methods’ performances are compared on a real well known dataset. The result shows that both approaches for structural learning process improve the quality of ANNs during learning iteration. Show more

Abstract: Through advancing in information and communications technology, Smart Cities provide many potential advantages like improved energy efficiency, new economic opportunities and management methods, however the information security in the top-level design of building a quite efficient smart city is easy to be ignored and caused a huge economic losses for citizens. We focus on mining information risks of smart city from the perspective of system, identifying the key risks and determining the importance of each factor, in order to measure the risk accurately. This paper presents a failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) method to analyze five dimensions of the …information security of smart city, and assess the risks on the basis of the fuzzy set theory and the grey relational theory. Due to the problem is the risk assessment of multi-dimension for an organization information security, we present a decision model that provides an efficient framework for calculating the value of risk assessment. The results indicate that aspects of the highest importance of the information security risk of smart city are the threats in natural, contrived and physical aspects, followed by the lack of public security education and training. Through the analysis we can find out the relationship between the failure modes and the overall situation of the system, then it can distinguish the main factors which play a driving role, and the secondary factors which have less impact on the system. According to the assessment results, some suggestions are put forward to guarantee the information security of smart city. The practical application of fuzzy and grey FMEA proposed in this paper helps enhance the reliability of the prediction, and the ranking of risk factors can be used for better decision-making concerning taking measures, which in turn will make smart city safer. Abstract: An interactive preference-based evolutionary algorithm is proposed to solve multi-criteria satisfactory optimization problems. Using the proposed method, Decision Makers (DMs) can easily obtain the preferred parts of the actual Pareto front. Based on the satisfactory theory, the feasible region is constructed to evaluate the obtained candidates in terms of satisfactory degree. Furthermore, optimal weights are generated by minimizing the weighted ℓp -norm of the conflicting satisfactory and unsatisfying candidates, to form the evaluation function by which the next generation would evolve towards the preferred optimization solutions. The layout optimization of a retrievable satellite module is used to verify …the effectiveness of proposed method. Show more

Abstract: Fingerprint is the oldest techniques for biometric identification. This limb has its own characteristics for each individual to distinguish from each other. Fingerprint is unique and the pattern will never change. Many approaches have been developed in this field research. Bag-of-Visual Words (BoVW) is an approach for fingerprint classification, where the classification is based on the histogram of the frequency of visual words. The problem arises when the fingerprint classification uses the original images in which these images have a large size and in large numbers. It requires large storage space and high computational time. In order to overcome this …problem, we propose Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) as compression method that can reduce the storage space. Our proposed method has been evaluated with some experiments based on five different types of fingerprint (whorl, arch, left loop, right loop, and twin loop). Experimental results show that the proposed method reduces the storage space and computational time. Moreover the accuracy of fingerprint classification could be improved. Show more

Abstract: This paper presents a robust fuzzy control scheme for maximum power tracking of a photovoltaic (PV) pumping system dedicated to domestic use. This system is composed of a photovoltaic generator (PVG) supplying via a DC-DC boost converter, a DC motor coupled to a centrifugal pump. A knowledge dynamic model of the pumping system is firstly developed leading to a Takagi Sugeno (TS) representation by a simple convex polytopic transformation. This approach allows to reproduce the dynamic behavior of the system with accuracy over a wide operating range. Then, a robust T-S fuzzy MPPT controller is designed to track the reference …speed and achieve an optimal operation of the photovoltaic pumping system. The proposed controller generates the optimal duty cycle to match the motor-pump impedance with the PV generator via a DC-DC converter, and thus, maximizes the quantity of water pumped daily. Finally, simulation results which take into account all changes in climatic conditions are presented for both transient and steady state operation. Show more

Abstract: Although fuzzy rough sets have been considered as a powerful theory to handle real-valued data with uncertainty, fuzzy rough sets based algorithms reached their limit of conveying hesitation information in the processes of making classification decision. Hesitant fuzzy set plays an important role in handling hesitant and uncertainty information. Thus, the fusion of hesitant fuzzy set and fuzzy-rough set is then explored and also applied it into the task of classification. The contributions of this paper include: 1) A dimensionality reduction of hesitant fuzzy sets by investigating the equivalence relation between hesitant fuzzy elements is studied. 2) A new definition …of upper and lower approximations of the hesitant fuzzy rough set is given by studying the hesitant fuzzy similarities between hesitant fuzzy elements. 3) A hesitant fuzzy rough sets nearest neighbor (HFRNN) classification algorithm is proposed. The experiments show that the classification algorithm of HFRNN outperforms the existing algorithms of FRNN, VQNN, SNN and ASNN in classification accuracy and execution time. Abstract: Texture features of the salient patches are closely related to the facial expression recognition on face images. To obtain these features, we applied the Gabor wavelets to extract the relevant values on the whole-face and important regions such as the eyes, nose, and mouth of the face, and assigned different weights to them with respect to their different recognition effectiveness. Since the LBP operator is largely dependent on the center pixel and is easily to be affected by the lighting conditions, an Around Center Instable Local Binary Pattern (ACI-LBP) operator is applied in this research. The technique takes consideration of …the relationship between the center point and the adjacent points, thus extends the representations of the fetures in the local region and is more robust to noise and illumination. To get the ACI-LBP, the LBP value is calculated first, then the Near Local Binary Pattern (N-LBP) value is calculated based on the distance between each pixel point and its neighborhood points in clockwise direction. The inconsistent values of LBP and N-LBP in corresponding positions are calculated in terms of their absolute values. In addition, a multi-scale histogram statistics method is adopted in the ACI-LBP extraction. Finally, the two parts features, Gabor and ACI-LBP, are merged as an integrated feature vector to classify and recognize the facial expression. Experimental results based on the JAFFE and CK facial databases show that the method can effectively improve the recognition accuracy of the facial expression recognition. Show more
