The purpose of the Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems: Applications in Engineering and Technology is to foster advancements of knowledge and help disseminate results concerning recent applications and case studies in the areas of fuzzy logic, intelligent systems, and web-based applications among working professionals and professionals in education and research, covering a broad cross-section of technical disciplines.
The journal will publish original articles on current and potential applications, case studies, and education in intelligent systems, fuzzy systems, and web-based systems for engineering and other technical fields in science and technology. The journal focuses on the disciplines of computer science, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, engineering management, bioengineering, and biomedical engineering. Abstract: This paper aims to give a new insight for soft fuzzy sets. Firstly, using textural soft fuzzy direlations on a soft fuzzy lattice, we obtain a soft fuzzy rough set algebra where the inverse soft fuzzy relation and inverse soft fuzzy corelation are the upper approximation and lower approximation, respectively. On the other hand, we consider Alexandroff soft fuzzy topology and we prove that there exists a one-to-one correspondence between the Alexandroff topologies and the reflexive and transitive direlations on a texture space.

Abstract: In this paper, we introduced the concepts of fuzzy upper and fuzzy lower α -continuous, almost α -continuous and weakly α -continuous multifunctions. Several characterizations and properties of these multifunctions along with their mutual relationships are established in L -fuzzy topological spaces. Later, composition and union between these multifunctions have been studied.

Abstract: Fuzzy Number Ranking (FNR), plays a very important role in decision making and some other fuzzy application systems. Several strategies have been proposed for ranking Fuzzy Numbers (FNs). Each of these techniques has been shown to produce non-intuitive results in certain cases. In this paper, a new algorithm has been introduced for ranking FNs which considers both left and right (LR) sides. Abstract: Traffic in urban areas is generally regulated by traffic lights, which represent a traffic flow bottleneck if they are not effectively configured. The dynamic nature of traffic flows makes reliable prediction possible only over a limited time horizon, and hence necessitates continual re-computation solutions. As intersections network size increases, the exponential growth in joint signal timing and traffic states exhibit a computational barrier to determining effective traffic lights timing. So, real-time traffic signal control optimization becomes a challenging problem. The present work investigates the issue of adaptive traffic control using real-time traffic data in multiple intersections. Each network intersection is …controlled by an autonomous agent operating with a view of incoming traffic. The generated model presents ability to identifying dynamic changes in traffic flow conditions as well as adjusting green lights sequences and offering a good coordination between each intersections neighboring. The main contribution of this model is a real-time adaptive control of the traffic lights, according to discontinuity and heterogeneity of traffic flow. Simulation results confirm the system effectiveness compared to fixed time control, actuated time control and green wave method. And that by mitigating the congestion in terms of maximum throughput traffic flow, minimum waiting time and stops while maintaining fairness among all the network traffic lights. Show more

Abstract: This paper discusses an uncapacitated facility location problem with customers’ positions subject to experts’ estimations. Uncertain variables are used to describe the estimations of customers’ positions, and an expected distance minimization model is proposed. In addition, a hybrid intelligent algorithm for solving the proposed model problem is provided. To illustrate the application of the new model and show the effectiveness of the solution algorithm, a numerical example is also presented.

Abstract: Prediction of physiological vital signs allow early detection of abnormal conditions in chronic or elderly patients. In this paper, an artificial intelligent tool is proposed using fuzzy logic and recurrent neural networks for definition and forecast of patient’s clinical condition by using five clinical parameters. For this purpose, a fuzzy model and six artificial neural networks were tested and compared. The fuzzy logic-based proposed first phase of the tool permits the analysis of the current state of the patient, which allows the training of the artificial neural network. In the second phase, two Elman networks MISO, two Elman networks MIMO, …as well as two Nonlinear Autoregressive with eXogenous inputs (NARX) neural networks are evaluated with and without pruning. After analyzing the six proposed networks, it was verified that the pruned NARX model presents the best performance and for this reason was chosen to build the Fuzzy-NARX (FNARX) prediction tool. Finally, the FNARX solution implemented was tested by utilizing unseen data from thirty patients with very high accuracy. More tests made with higher prediction periods demonstrate a slight decrease in the performance. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the FNARX model proposed, which has a very good performance in predicting patient conditions, and it is a useful tool for preventive medicine. Abstract: This paper investigates the implementation of adaptive and nonadaptive fuzzy controls for a smart lights experimental testbed. The objective is to accurately regulate the light level across the experimental testbed to a desired value, and to test the performance of the fuzzy controllers under cross-illumination effects and bulb and sensor failures. As an initial approach, a decentralized (i.e., no communication between controllers) nonadaptive fuzzy controller is implemented and applied to the smart lights. This approach is convenient for this type of experimental testbed where a mathematical model of the plant is not available and heuristic information about how to control …the system is sufficient. The nonadaptive fuzzy controller, when properly tuned, is able to achieve uniform lighting across the entire testbed floor in most of the tested situations but it fails whenever an on/off light bulb failure is introduced. In order to attain uniform lighting in the presence of failures, a “fuzzy model reference learning controller” (i.e., adaptive fuzzy controller) is implemented for the smart lights, and this algorithm proves to be able to successfully adapt to uncertainties such as disturbances and failures. Abstract: In this paper, we introduce the notion of ·-primary ideals in PMV -algebras and primary A -ideals in MV -modules. Then we study primary decomposition of an ideal in an MV -algebra and primary decomposition of an A -ideal in an MV -module. Abstract: In this paper, we present an unified approach which defines interval valued L-fuzzy ideals of nearrings by incorporating interval valued t-norms and t-conorms.
