Abstract: Centroid and spread are commonly used approaches in ranking fuzzy numbers. Some experts rank fuzzy numbers using centroid or spread alone while others tend to integrate them together. Although a lot of methods for ranking fuzzy numbers that are related to both approaches have been presented, there are still limitations whereby the ranking obtained is inconsistent with human intuition. This paper proposes a novel method for ranking fuzzy numbers that integrates the centroid point and the spread approaches and overcomes the limitations and weaknesses of most existing methods. Proves and justifications with regard to the proposed ranking method are also …presented. Show more

Abstract: This paper investigates the multiple attribute decision making (MADM) problems in which the attribute values take the form of hesitant intuitionistic fuzzy linguistic elements (HIFLEs). Firstly, motivated by the idea of hesitant fuzzy linguistic elements and intuitionistic fuzzy numbers, the concept, operational laws and comparison laws of HIFLEs are defined. Then, some aggregation operators are developed for aggregating the hesitant intuitionistic fuzzy linguistic information, such as hesitant intuitionistic fuzzy linguistic weighted aggregation operators, hesitant intuitionistic fuzzy linguistic ordered weighted aggregation operators and hesitant intuitionistic fuzzy linguistic hybrid aggregation operators. Some desirable properties of these operators and the relationships between them …are discussed. Furthermore, the hesitant intuitionistic fuzzy linguistic set is extended to hesitant intuitionistic fuzzy uncertain linguistic set, and some hesitant intuitionistic fuzzy uncertain linguistic aggregation operators are developed. Based on the hesitant intuitionistic fuzzy linguistic weighted average (HIFLWA) operator, an approach to MADM is proposed under hesitant intuitionistic fuzzy linguistic environment. Finally, a practical example is given to illustrate the application of the proposed method and to demonstrate its practicality and effectiveness. Show more

Abstract: This paper investigates multiple attribute decision making (MADM) problems in which the attribute values take the form of interval-valued dual hesitant fuzzy elements (IVDHFEs). Firstly, motivated by the concepts of dual hesitant fuzzy set (DHFS) and interval number, the concept, operational laws and comparison laws of interval-valued dual hesitant fuzzy elements are proposed. Then, based on the operational laws of IVDHFEs, some aggregation operators are developed for aggregating the interval-valued dual hesitant fuzzy information, such as the interval-valued dual hesitant fuzzy weighted aggregation operators, the interval-valued dual hesitant fuzzy ordered weighted aggregation operators, the generalized interval-valued dual hesitant fuzzy weighted …aggregation operators, the generalized interval-valued dual hesitant fuzzy ordered weighted aggregation operators and the interval-valued dual hesitant fuzzy hybrid aggregation operators. Furthermore, some desirable properties of these operators and the relationships between them are discussed in detail. Based on the interval-valued dual hesitant fuzzy weighted average (IVDHFWA) operator, an approach to multiple attribute decision making is proposed under interval-valued dual hesitant fuzzy environment. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the application of the proposed method and to demonstrate its practicality and effectiveness. Show more

Abstract: In this paper, we investigate the multiple attribute decision making (MADM) problems in which the attribute values take the form of trapezoid fuzzy 2-tuples. Firstly, we develop some trapezoid fuzzy 2-tuple linguistic aggregation operators based on the operational laws of trapezoid fuzzy 2-tuples, such as the trapezoid fuzzy 2-tuple weighted geometric (TFTWG) operator, the trapezoid fuzzy 2-tuple ordered weighted geometric (TFTOWG) operator, the generalized trapezoid fuzzy 2-tuple weighted average (GTFTWA) operator and the generalized trapezoid fuzzy 2-tuple ordered weighted average (GTFTOWA) operator. Then, we study some desirable properties of the developed operators, such as idempotency, monotonicity, commutativity and boundedness, and …analyze some special cases of these operators. Furthermore, we propose an approach to multiple attribute decision making under trapezoid fuzzy linguistic environment based on the GTFTWA and TFTWG operators. Finally, an illustrative example is given to verify the proposed approach and to demonstrate its practicality and effectiveness. Show more

Abstract: This paper presents a novel design of printed hybrid fractal tree (PHFT) antenna using bacterial forging optimization (BFO) in conjunction with curve fitting technique. The antenna geometry is based on the hybrid structure obtained by integrating meander line geometry with fractal tree, whose geometrical descriptors are determined by means of BFO. The fractal shape allows the new hybrid antenna to be effectively reduced in size without significantly impairing performance. Representative results of optimized antenna are reported in order to access the effectiveness of the developed approach for reliable implementation in wireless telemedicine applications. Moreover, useful guidelines on the effects of …finite ground plane size on antenna characteristics have been adequately analyzed. Show more

Abstract: In this paper, the concept of M-fuzzifying submodular functions is introduced, which is a generalization of submodular functions in matroid theory. It is shown that M-fuzzifying matroids can be generated from an M-fuzzifying submodular function in different ways. A circuit-map, an M-fuzzifying family of independent sets and an M-fuzzifying family of dependent sets are obtained from an M-fuzzifying submodular function. We also present an M-fuzzifying submodular function on a lattice $\mathcal{L}_{E}$ and obtain an M-fuzzifying matroid from it. Moreover, new characterizations of base-maps and circuit-maps are obtained by means of an M-fuzzifying rank function. At last, the notion …of the union of M-fuzzifying matriods is introduced and a result of the union of M-fuzzifying matriods associated with M-fuzzifying submodular functions is obtained. We also establish generalizations of Edmonds' Intersection Theorem and Edmonds' Covering Theorem in the framework of M-fuzzifying matriod. Show more

Abstract: This paper presents a technique for implementing population based metaheuristic algorithms during dynamic optimisation of a non–linear system with time varying inputs. The system dynamics due to the presence of multiple inputs and large signal variations are simulated when designing controller parameters. The proposed method is used to implement the particle swarm optimisation (PSO) algorithm and used to optimise fuzzy logic controllers for photovoltaic (PV) array maximum power point tracking. Controller optimisation is carried out using a large signal average model of the dc–dc converter. A rule firing analysis technique for interpretation of fuzzy logic controller rule participation at run–time …is formulated. The rule inference parameters used for analysis are firing frequency, firing strength, and contribution to the control effort. The performance of optimised fuzzy logic controllers consisting of 9, 25, and 49 rules is analysed at run–time. Simulation results show that the fuzzy logic controller rules centred on the equilibrium point have the most significant contribution to the control effort. A fuzzy logic controller (FLC) with 9 rules can therefore give a good performance. The robustness of the 9–rule FLC is verified using the Lyapunov stability theory. Show more

Abstract: In this paper, we investigate the multiple attribute group decision making problems with interval grey linguistic variables. We first introduce some operations on the interval grey linguistic variables. Then, we further develop the induced interval grey linguistic ordered weighted geometric (I-IGLOWG) operator. Then, we apply the induced interval grey linguistic ordered weighted geometric (I-IGLOWG) operator and interval grey linguistic weighted geometric (IGLWG) operator to deal with multiple attribute group decision making with the interval grey linguistic variables. Finally, an illustrative example for supplier selection in supply chain management with the interval grey linguistic variables is given to verify the developed …approach. Show more

Abstract: This paper proposes an improved Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) estimation method. First, it introduces improved Markov Chain Monte Carlo estimation method, then uses extended Kalman filter to approximate the nonlinear transfer equation, and ultimately completes the estimation of the redefined asymmetric SV model combining with the forward filtering and backward sampling algorithm. The experimental results indicate that the new algorithm has a faster convergence rate. Finally, this improved MCMC method of asymmetric SV model is applied to the liquidity management of commercial banks. The fitting results not only illustrate its efficiency and accuracy, but also show the empirical evidence …of leverage effect. Show more
