Abstract: Every day growth of the vehicles has become one of the biggest problems of urbanism especially in major cities. This can waste people's time, increase the fuel consumption, air pollution, and increase the density of cars and vehicles. To improve this problem, we first designed a comprehensive model of urban traffic network in this article, using state space equations and SIMULINK Program MATLAB and then by using a novel algorithm, two fuzzy controllers for controlling traffic light in a two phase isolated intersection in the multi Variable Control System. In this system, types of sensors is video detection, they are …placed strategically at incoming and outgoing legs (lanes) and the controller utilize the information received from these sensors to make optimal decisions to minimize the goal function. The simulation results show that TASFC (Traffic Actuated Signal Fuzzy Control) had a great improvement in 6 different traffic conditions such as certain, uncertain, using random data, and in 3 different traffic conditions using the real case study of EBADI-KASHANI intersection in Mashhad, Iran, in comparison with the fixed time controller, real operation of Australian SCATS system and FSCS (Fuzzy Signal Control System) system in previous work for estimation of the goal function which is minimizing the queue length and the delay time of the vehicles. Abstract: Using polynomial concept and non-liner optimization enhanced the performance of Chen's (1996) and Yu's (2005b) methods as the two frequently used methods in fuzzy time series model. To this end, polynomial schemes were given to each fuzzy logical relationship groups that had been established through forecast process to establish non-linear optimization systems. The optimal solutions of this system were applied in corresponding steps of algorithms to obtain new weights. To validate model reliability and its effectiveness, the forecasts of two huge databases namely 5 years Taiwan's stock index and 2010 load data of Power Supply Company in Johor Bahru in …Malaysia were then exposed to the proposed model. Next, the forecasts were compared with real values in testing datasets. The evaluation of measuring criteria namely RMSEs and MAPEs showed that the proposed model could produce accurate forecast compared with the Chen's and Yu's method in fuzzy time series. The implication of this study is to generalize the results to other fuzzy time series models. Show more

Abstract: For solving users' disorientation problems when using Web-based systems, there is an important issue to understand why they cause such problems. To this end, there is a need to investigate the relationship between users' characteristics and their disorientation problems. However, when facing this challenge, it is difficult to identify which users' characteristics may play important factors or how their characteristics interact with each other to influence their disorientation problems. Thus, this paper tends to propose an automatic architecture for solving this issue. More specifically, this study proposes a multiple-strategy evolutionary neural fuzzy network (MSE-NFN) to not only provides an efficiency …way to automatically identify users' disorientation problems but also investigate which users' characteristics greatly influence their disorientation problems. The results indicate that users' experience of using Internet, experience of using navigation tools and different levels of prior knowledge are influential factors to affect their disorientation problems. Moreover, it also demonstrates that the proposed architecture (MSE-NFN) outperform than other existing evolutionary methods. Based on the results, a framework is conducted, which can be used to automatically identify users' disorientation problems when developing the personalized Web-based systems. Show more

Abstract: This paper presents a new stability analysis method dedicated to a class of fuzzy control systems (FCSs) controlling multi input-multi output (MIMO) nonlinear processes by means of Takagi-Sugeno-Kang fuzzy logic controllers (FLCs). The stability analysis of the FCSs is carried out using LaSalle's global invariant set theorem by the separate stability analysis of each fuzzy rule in MIMO fuzzy control systems. Therefore the complexity of the stability analysis is reduced and the adding of new fuzzy rules can be conducted easily; this modification of FLC structure requires the fulfillment of only one of the conditions of the stability analysis theorem …suggested in this paper. Another advantage of the stability analysis approach proposed in this paper is that the derivative of the Lyapunov function candidate must be only negative semi-definite in comparison with Lyapunov's stability theorem where it must be negative definite. The conservativeness of stability conditions is thus reduced, and this enables the convenient design of FLCs. The applicability and efficiency of the theoretical results are illustrated by numerical simulations for a representative MIMO process which deals with the level control in a three spherical tank system. Abstract: In this article, using the Orlicz function M and the difference operator of order n ≥ 1, we introduce the spaces of lacunary ideal convergent difference sequences and lacunary strongly summable difference sequences of fuzzy numbers via fuzzy metric. We also established some relations related to these spaces. Further, we study some basic topological properties of these spaces.

Abstract: In the literatures, the sensitivity analysis of fuzzy transportation problems has not been explored like other mathematical programming problems. In this paper, a new method is proposed for the same. To illustrate the proposed method a numerical example is solved by using the proposed method.

Abstract: This paper studies H∞ fuzzy output tracking control problem for delayed nonlinear systems using Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy modeling. The H∞ performance has been achieved using Fuzzy Performance Evaluator (FPE) and the sufficient conditions are presented in terms of delay dependent Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). The delay interval is decomposed into multiple equidistant subintervals and Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals (LKFs) are constructed on these intervals to obtain the conditions. Thereby the formulated model traces the given nonlinear dynamical system exactly to a T-S fuzzy model with very less error bound approaching zero asymptotically. Finally, with numerical open and closed loop tests on continuous stirred …tank reactors (CSTR) model reveal that the method proposed in this study is more effective. Show more

Abstract: Retinopathy or blindness due to diabetes is one of the most common complications among diabetics worldwide. Due to its high prevalence, early detections are necessary so as to avoid vision loss. This paper aims to discuss the design and development of a retinopathy predictive system which is based on data mining and case based reasoning (CBR). To be specific, C5.0 was used to produce the decision tree whereas k-nearest neighbour and Hamming distance algorithms were used to select the three most similar cases for every new case entered into the system. Then a voting mechanism makes the final prediction. Results …show that the hybrid system has a better accuracy prediction rate (85%) compared to C5.0 (76%) and CBR (73%) implemented solely. Show more

Abstract: This paper proposed a new and simple solution approach to solve a general fuzzy system of linear equations. In the original system, the coefficient matrix is considered as real crisp whereas the unknown variable vector and right hand side vector are considered as fuzzy. Here, three different types of fuzzy numbers viz. triangular, trapezoidal and Gaussian fuzzy numbers are taken into consideration. First the system is solved in term of fuzzy centre then this solution is used with width to get the final solution of the original system. Solution theorems are stated and proved related to the proposed method. The …method is also used to solve some known example problems found in the references and the results are compared to show the efficacy of the proposed method. Show more

Abstract: In this study, we present a new method for ranking generalized trapezoidal fuzzy numbers based on the incenter and inradius of a triangle. The proposed method is simple and easy to apply to real life problems. The method can also rank crisp numbers and fuzzy numbers with the same centroid point. Some comparative examples are also given to illustrate the advantages of the proposed method. Based on the proposed ranking method, we also give an application to the fuzzy risk analysis problem.
