Abstract: The mechanisms of ion exchanges and water fluxes underlying the endolymphatic hydrops phenomenon, remain indeterminate so far. This review intends to reposition the physical environment of the endolymphatic compartment within the inner ear, as well as to recall the molecular effectors present in the membranous labyrinth and that could be at the source of the hydrops.
