Abstract: This article proposes power quality improvement in the grid using an adaptive fuzzy logic controller (AFLC) based series hybrid active power filter (SHAPF). The SHAPF injects the voltage to compensate for voltage unbalance, harmonics under balanced, non-sinusoidal supply conditions, neutral current and brings down the total harmonic distortion (THD) to below the recommended value as per IEEE standard 519–1992. This system makes use of the green energy sources with an energy storage unit to meet out the DC-link voltage requirement connected with SHAPF. For producing the required voltages for compensation, the system is implemented by instantaneous reactive power theory adapted with fuzzy logic DC link voltage control. The SHAPF have the ability to generate and preserve the required power to meet the load demand and superior for compensating the voltage interruption of a short period or over a long period. The simulation and experimental studies are realized to confirm the performance of the proposed grid integrated three-phase four-wire series hybrid active power filter.
