Abstract: This paper presents an analysis on dynamic performance of a three area Interconnected power system. Each area considered with effect of boiler dynamics, governor deadband and Generation Rate Constraints when subjected to parametric uncertainties. The evolution of more socialized companies for generation, transmission and distribution affects the formulation of Load Frequency Control problem. The concept of DISCOM participation matrix to simulate these bilateral contracts is introduced and reflected in the three-area block diagram. The scaling factors which transform the scaled input-output real values to required value in decision limit are tuned using Differential Evolution Algorithm. The series of control rules in Fuzzy logic approach are made to cover all possible combinations of the ‘m’-input variables with ‘n’-membership functions will be of ‘nm’ in number. The number of membership functions of the output fuzzy set will be (3n − 2) for n ≥ 3. The present paper investigates the performance of a structure preserving controller in a three area Interconnected power system in deregulated environment.
