The Journal of Aerospace Operations (JAO) publishes articles that advance the field of aerospace operations and focuses on theoretical, empirical, and case based research. The goal of JAO is to promote a Value Operations Methodology that advances the capability to improve, optimize and evolve more complete solutions. This includes a fundamental interest in a wide range of generic expertise and modeling techniques ranging from mathematical modeling and optimization, expert systems, agent based modeling, integration techniques, complex systems and complexity modeling, decision analysis, simulation, econometrics, stochastic modeling, queuing theory, knowledge engineering, gaming theory, graph theory, and computing and information technologies.
Research in Aerospace Operations is carried out from the perspective of airlines, airports, ATM and aircraft manufacturers, and deals with customers and suppliers contributing value to the air transportation value system. The focus is mainly on performance indicators: costs & benefits, capacity, environment, safety and sustainment from an integral air transportation value system perspective.
In general JAO aims to promote a holistic approach to the understanding of the air transport system, which is fundamental in addressing the challenges faced by this industry. JAO facilitates this through the dissemination of methodologies, models, tools and research studies.
