Abstract: The residual stresses in a two phase stainless steel were determined using the X-ray diffraction method and elastoplastic model. The advantage of the used method is that both macro and microstresses can be determined for each phase of the studied material. The anisotropic microstresses can be estimated from the nonlinearities of the experimental sin2 ψ plots using theoretically predicted strains.
