Abstract: In order to explore solutions to three key issues currently existing in the redesign process of mechanical and electrical products, this paper presents a modular approach aimed at continuous improvement. First, the preliminary planning was implemented by way of the “Three-dimension Analysis on the Motivation for Continuous Improvement” to improvement motivation; then the survey and expert review were combined to identify specific improvement motivation; Subsequently, the matrix correlation method was introduced to bring the idea on continuous improvement into the modular clustering feature; finally, the fuzzy clustering algorithm was improved with the F statistic quantity to complete modular redesign. In this paper, SY-630 vulcanizing machine is taken as an example of the redesign for the proposed method to be verified, and also, the modular cluster feature is expanded from a single property to a pluralistic property.
