Abstract: This work studies miniature impingement flow fields using Powell's macro-tube impinging mirror model by simulating five faces, (x=0.04 mm, 0.08 mm, 0.10 mm, 0.12 mm, 0.16 mm), in the impact zone. Analysis of the simulation provides a detailed picture of the axial direction speed, speed in the radial direction, and dynamic pressure. The distribution curves of the axial velocity, radial velocity, and dynamic pressure obtained by theoretical derivation show that the two impinging stream strands are symmetrical about the ζ=0 impact surface. These distributions are consistent between simulation and theoretical results, showing that there is a mirrored distribution within ultra-micro impingement flow fields and further supporting Powell's proposed mirror theory.
