Abstract: Mineral resource information systems are being developed throughout the world to meet the ever-increasing need for more quantitative and less aggregated data and analyses. The major mineral resource information systems, machine processable or manual, are described. To be truly useful, a mineral resource information system must provide not only data, but must be capable of storing and delivering analyses and aggregated syntheses of data for use in resource management and policy decisions.
