Abstract: The human aspects of office automation are reviewed. A plea is made for an approach in which the three elements of office automation – man, organization and the technological system – are integrated on an equal basis. There should be more emphasis on the effectiveness of information systems, rather than on their efficiency. The real challenge for office automation is not the introduction of new technology, but information management.
