Abstract: The paper develops a method for measuring the gain or loss to the economy as a whole of changes in specialization. Such changes are in turn due partly to changes in market shares on the domestic market and partly to changes in the …composition of exports. By applying domestic market shares and the composition of exports of year t-i to the I-O coefficients of year t it is possible to isolate the effect of changes in specialization from those of production technology reflected in the I-O coefficients. The method is applied to the time series of Danish input-output tables for the period 1966–1983. In addition the paper sets up an optimization model for the industrial structure of a small open economy under perfect competition and applies the model to the Danish I-O table for 1983. Show more

Abstract: The set of recently conducted time-of-day electricity pricing experiments provide a major source of economic experiment data. This study provides a primer on the issues in the use of this data and describes in detail the five most prominent experiments conducted in Southern California, Los Angeles, Wisconsin, Connecticut, and North Carolina. Among the issues considered are various strategies for handling large diverse data sets and the presence of missing values. …The particular data set discussed has been employed in the transference of experimental results to utilities that have not conducted such an experiment. Abstract: This paper examines the contribution of individual income sources to overall inequality. It provides new evidence from the Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF) on the marginal effects of earnings of family heads, capital income, spouses' earnings, and housing income. The …results differ from an earlier study based on the Current Population Survey (CPS). In the SCF, capital income is more disequalizing while spouses' earnings is more equalizing than in the CPS. SCF measures of the effects of housing income are similar to those based on the Survey of Residential Finance. Show more
