Abstract: The Statistical Computing Project (SCP) was jointly sponsored by the UN Economic Commission for Europe and UNDP. It was carried out by a group of employees of statistical offices in a number of ECE member countries. The purpose was to apply electronic data processing to statistical purposes by developing programs which can be used in practice. The work under the project was organized in four so-called Joint Groups, dealing with data editing, database management (RAPID), table generation and metainformation system (METIS) in turn. Important results were obtained in each of the Joint Groups. They can be made available to anyone who wishes to use them.
