Improvements on the statistical quality practices at the Brazilian institute of geography and statistics

Abstract: In the last years, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) has been focusing on different aspects of the quality of statistical production, while taking into consideration best practices and principles of official statistics. The aim of this paper is to describe some of the statistical quality management practices implemented recently. Although a lot of improvements have been made, much still remains to be done. A set of procedures to enhance the statistical quality management system is in progress. They will be also presented in this paper.
