Abstract: Three novel organic–inorganic hybrid supramolecules {(bcpyp)[Pb2I6]C3H7NO·H2O}n (1), {(bcpyb)0.5[PbI3]}n(2), and {(bcpyh)0.5[PbI3]}n (3) have been synthesized by the self-assembly of lead iodide with 1, 1’-(propane-1, 3-diyl)bis(4-cyanopyridin-1-ium)dibromide (bcpyp·2Br), 1, 1’-(butane-1, 4-diyl)bis(4-cyanopyridin-1-ium)dibromide (bcpyb·2Br) and 1, 1’-(hexane-1, 6-diyl)bis(4-cyanopyridin-1-ium)dibromide (bcpyh·2Br) cationic templates by solvent evaporation method. X-ray crystallography shows that these compounds are all composed of pyridine organic dication and halogenated anions, and present new 1D supramolecular chain. These compounds have been further characterized by IR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy and photocatalysis reaction.
