Abstract: Two new complexes {(BIQPM)2[Cu4I8]·DMF}n (1) and {(BIQPM)[Cu2(SCN)4]}n (2) [BIQPM = 1,1′-Bis(isoquinoline)-1,4-Phenyldimethylenyl] have been synthesized via the self-assembly reaction in solution. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis shows compound 1 is a tetranuclear oligomer and 2 is a 1D chain. Compound 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic system with space group C2/m; Compound 2 crystallizes in the triclinic system with space group P-1. It is the H-bonds and electrostatic interactions between the organic counteractions and inorganic moieties that do the contribution to the crystal packing. These compounds have been further characterized by IR spectroscopy and thermostability.
