Abstract: This 7-year-old boy presented with acute renal failure associated
with Plasmodium vivax infection. In addition, he had severe
thrombocytopenia. These apparently serious manifestations are rare in P.
vivax malaria but respond favorably to antimalarials and supportive therapy.
