Abstract: We present a case of multiple antibiotic resistant Escherichia
coli meningitis in a premature neonate. He developed subdural empyema,
hydrocephalus and seizures and was treated with six weeks of meropenem therapy,
phenobarbital and serial lumbar punctures to relieve hydrocephalus. He was
discharged home in stable condition.
