Abstract: Shot peening is a surface deformation process that can produce very large improvements in fatigue performance, stress corrosion … of engineering components. This treatment involves modifications of the surface and subsurface condition of a material that can be described by the change of residual stress. The aim of this study is to measure the residual stress gradient introduced by the shot peening in a titanium alloy TA6V. A lot of techniques are available today with their advantages and disadvantages. In this paper, we will compare two methods, which are the X-ray technique and the incremental hole drilling method.
