Abstract: Synchrotron x-ray diffraction has been used to study the intergranular stress development during dynamic strain aging of an Al-Mg alloy. Clear discontinuities are seen in the average lattice strains development in differently oriented grain families, occurring and macroscopic loads corresponding to plateaus in macroscopic strain. Discontinuous increases in peak width were also observed.
