Abstract: Poverty is a complex phenomenon that cannot be reduced solely to monetary dimension. This leads to the need for a multidimensional approach that consists in extending the analysis to a variety of non-monetary indicators of living conditions. The axiomatic literature has proposed some measures of multidimensional poverty and explored the properties that are at the basis of these indices. The aim of this paper is to use a Fuzzy Subset Theory perspective to propose a class of counting measures of multidimensional poverty and the assignment of different weights to the considered dimensions.
