Abstract: Uncertainties will lead to discrepancies between the actual and planned construction schedules. To know and solve these discrepancies timely, Monte Carlo method (MCM) is combined with Building Information Modeling (BIM) to establish a MCM-and-BIM-based construction schedule early warning model (MCM-BIM-CSEWM). Then, this paper develops a system prototype of MCM-BIM-CSEWM and explains its specific work processes through a large practical office building construction project. The results show that MCM-BIM-CSEWM can not only address the logical relationship between construction activities but also visually implement early warning according to construction-duration probability rather than construction duration in comparison with the traditional early warning models or systems.
