Abstract: In engineering applications, force measurements, particularly in machine tools, has been done widely. In this study, a dynamometer design and manufacturing, Strain Gage based, tree-component, computer linked, were carried out to measure cutting forces in milling. This dynamometer can be used in static force measurements and also in dynamic force measurements in planning and grinding machines. Strain gages bonded on the octagonal rings have been used for sensing of the force signals. The analogue force signals obtained from three-channels have been amplified and converted into digital signals via a data acquisition card and recorded in a computer. To test the dynamometer, face-milling operation has been made. It has been observed that, the cutting forces recorded synchronously from the tests have corresponded to the calculated values.
