Abstract: It has been rarely attempted to capture the holistic characteristics of successful organizational innovation in one model. The main objective of this paper is to develop a generic formal model which depicts the successful organizational innovation process. The developed model covers two aspects of innovation: the innovation process and the organizational innovative behavior. The innovation process is discussed in terms of its stages while the organizational innovativeness is analyzed through arranging the organizational factors which have positive contribution to innovation into categories. Furthermore, the organizational innovation process has been analyzed from the design point view. The Axiomatic Theory of Design Modeling (ATDM) has been used to formulate mathematically a conceptual design of the organizational innovation process. Finally, a survey study has been conducted in order to further examine the success factors of innovation and to validate the proposed conceptual model. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) has been used to evaluate our findings. The results confirm the positive contribution of the proposed success factors to the innovation process. Future research directions based on the developed conceptual design of the organizational innovation system have been suggested.
