Preface to the Special Issue on “Sleep and Circadian Disorder in Huntington’s Disease”

It is our great pleasure to introduce this special review issue – Sleep and Circadian Disorder in Huntington’s Disease – for the Journal of Huntington’s Disease and to thank the Guest Editor, Jenny Morton of the University of Cambridge, for putting this timely and exciting issue together. The effects of sleep and circadian rhythm disorders and their involvement in neurodegenerative diseases, including Huntington’s disease, are increasingly being recognised, as have their deleterious consequences.

In this issue, the Professor Morton has compiled a compendium of new reviews on the current state of our understanding of sleep and circadian rhythms in HD as well as the gaps in our knowledge, areas of research that would expand our knowledge, and how sleep dysfunction could be tackled directly in HD. As well as reviews of sleep and circadian function/dysfunction, there are personal opinion pieces on sleep in HD from a family and historian’s perspective by Dr. Alice Wexler and a clinician’s perspective by Dr. Diana Rosas.
