Abstract: A two-dimensional strip theory is extended to the hydrodynamic analysis of a dry dock like section consisting of a semi-submerged mono-hull with a totally trapped inner water region. In the original three dimensional case, however, this inner region is connected with the exterior water region. To verify the present theoretical approach, results are presented for a semi-submerged dry dock and a mono-hull semi-submersible and these are compared with data derived from three dimensional analysis and experiments.
