Abstract: A newly developed chat system that uses the sense of touch (via pressure sensors) to communicate a user's feelings is proposed. According to the strength of a user's grasp on a mouse, face marks are entered into a chat window. This system was applied in an electronic conferencing system called a remote seminar support system. Our experiments showed that users found the system to be more interesting than a traditional chat system.
