Editorial

This double issue of the International Journal of Developmental Science (IJDS) concludes Volume 18. The present double issue of IJDS comprises two regular papers, a viewpoint paper, two special section papers, and the corresponding special section guest editorial by Brett and Bartoli (2024). Once again, studies presented at the International Workshop on Aggression (WOA) will be published in the IJDS. Brett and Bartoli (2024) provide an insight and overview of the 27th WOA, which was held at the University of London in 2023. I would like to thank everyone involved and the congress organizers very much for the opportunity given to the workshop participants and I thank Brett and Bartoli (2024) for the Guest Editorial.

This issue of the IJDS also contains two regular papers. Orihuela et al. (2024) examined in their study with a multi-ethnic sample of 272 adolescents the associations between iron intake and behavior problems (aggression and rule breaking). They found that “higher iron intake was linked to lower aggressive behaviors (...) but was not associated with rule breaking.” (p. 131-137). This study thus has important implications for the healthy development of adolescents. Maffongelli et al. (2024) present a comprehensive, systematic review and overview of different action tasks to assess action processing in preschool children including 66 publications that focus typically developing children. Action processing “provides a window into the way we understand others and learn about the world.” (p. 139-167). The review by Maffongelli et al. is an invaluable resource for researchers who wish to study this topic in greater depth. Finally, Weingarten et al. (2024) argue in their Viewpoint paper “for a peer trade-off model of personality disorder (PD) traits during adolescence that allows for both positive (e.g., popularity, peer acceptance) and negative (e.g., peer rejection, peer victimization, peer exclusion) peer outcomes.” (p. 169-174).
