Abstract: Intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) is a new magnetic stimulation paradigm and has been widely used in the study of neurological diseases. However, its electrophysiological regulation mechanism remains unclear. To explore the effect of iTBS on brain cognitive function and its electrophysiological mechanism, the aged rats were treated with iTBS, and the local field potentials (LFPs) in the ventral hippocampus (vHPC) and medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) were acquired during working memory (WM) tasks. The effect of iTBS stimulation on the correlation network synergy and topological attributes across brain regions of WM in aged rats was investigated. The results showed that iTBS enhanced the correlation network connection characteristics of vHPC and mPFC brain regions during WM, and improved the behavioral performance of aged rats. This study has important research significance for the mode optimization and clinical application of transcranial magnetic stimulation.
