Abstract: An optimization design method of giant magnetostrictive transducer has been proposed based on the circuit theory and system dynamic equation. The method includes three parts. 1) Establishing the equivalent circuit of the transducer's vibration components and educing the dimensions of the transducer components. 2) Based on these dimensions, the distribution of magnetic field in the Terfenol-D was calculated. 3) Using finite element method, the magneto-mechanical coupled dynamic equation was founded and the resonance frequency can be obtained. Calculating and experimental results show that this method can be used to optimise the structure of magnetostrictive transducers in order to transfer the maximal energy.
