Abstract: A new form of magnetic separation in flowing liquids using magnetic field open gradient is used. Several improvements concerning the capture efficiency are given by optimizing both the applied magnetic field and liquid flow. Experiments were performed to estimate the reliability of the proposed device and to determine the use limits of this form of magnetic separation.
