Abstract: The paper is aimed at a 3D finite element analysis (FEA) based investigation of the effects of the influent design parameters of a claw pole transverse flux permanent magnet motor (TFPM) on its torque production capability. As far as the three axially-arranged phases of the claw pole TFPM are acting independently (there is no rotating field in a chaired air gap), the present study is reduced to the case of a single phase concept. It has been clearly shown that the claw pole TFPM could exhibit a high output torque if its sizing is accurately achieved.
